WASH Project

700 households (total estimated 4.900 beneficiaries) for WASH facilities.

30 most vulnerable households (total estimated 210 beneficiaries) for ORS.

1.460 skilled, semi- and unskilled artisans for DRR training.

2.500 individuals for hygiene training.
20 village committees (VCs) for training and support in DRR.


Rehabilitation & Development of Irrigation Channel

12 irrigation channels rehabilitation is in process in Union Council Pirsabaq District Nowshera and Union Council Agra   District Charsadda.

1,489 farmers will have easy access to enough water for their crops from these rehabilitated channels.

12 communities around the irrigation channels will have disaster risk maps and disaster risk reduction Plans.

15,000 poplars will be planted alongside of rehabilitated channels to mitigate the environmental degradation caused by reconstruction work.

A study to analyze ” How to prevent child and forced labor being used in emergency and early recovery projects,  strategy development recommendation for the support of wider fight against child/forced labor in general” is in progress.






 

 








 
   

 

 

 

ON-GOING PROJECT

Solidar Switzerland is working in Pakistan for the 2010 flood for the 2010 flood victims in District Layyah and Muzaffargarh (Punjab) and Districts Charsadda & Nowshera of KPK. Solidar has completed emergecies response projects as well as in the same areas. At the moment solidar is operational in these areas with the following projects.

1. WASH Project-Layyah

The specific purpose of the project is:

  • 700 households (total estimated 4.900 beneficiaries) for WASH facilities.
  • 30 most vulnerable households (total estimated 210 beneficiaries) for One Rrrom Shelter.
  • 1.460 skilled, semi- and unskilled artisans for DRR training.
  • 2.500 individuals for hygiene training.
  • 20 village committees (VCs) for training and support in DRR.

Outcomes

  • 700 most vulnerable families are using safe WASH facilities.
  • 30 Families are living in safe permanent ORS.
  • 1.460 skilled, semi- and unskilled artisans receive theoretical and practical train-ings in flood resilient construction techniques to build WASH facilities (60 of whom receive training in ORS construction).
  • 2.500 people have been trained in safe hygiene practice and will multiply the impact of this knowledge by transferring their knowledge to other households / community members.
  • Members of 20 VCs have received further training and support in Disaster Risk Reduction.

2.REHABILITATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF IRRIGATION SYSTEM IN CHARSADDA AND NOWSHERA

As Solidar is working in District Charsadda and Nowshera on Livelihood Rehabilitation Project, whertargeted the small biussiness, young adults from the vulnerable families and women. While the supporting nonfarm livelihood of flood affected it was noticed that a huge populations livelihood is dependant the Agriculture and the people are facing the irrigation water shortage due to the high silting on the Agriculture land and the damaged structures of the irrigation channels. Solidar initiated same projects for the Rehabilitation of Irrigation system in both targeted areas with the support of Swiss Development Coorporation and Swiss Solidarity in District Nowshera and Charsadda respectively.

  • 12 irrigation channels rehabilitation is in process in Union Council Pirsabaq District Nowshera and Union Council Agra District Charsadda.

  • 15,000 poplars will be planted alongside of rehabilitated channels to mitigate the environmental degradation caused by reconstruction work.

  • During the study and rehabilitation work, 600 workers will be supported in obtaining their CNIC from the NADRA.
